Looking forward to giving my illustrated talk on Godshill Pottery and Christopher Charman’s memoir In the Spirit of Godshill on Thursday, 17th February at Avonway in Fordingbridge. It’s at 2.30pm and on behalf of the Friends of Fordingbridge Museum; their AGM will be conducted first. The Fordingbridge Museum is a great source of local history and is run by volunteers who have been working hard behind the scenes all winter to bring new displays to life. Do come along if you are near enough - the talk is free but donations to the Museum (which reopens at Easter) are greatly welcomed.
I shall also be giving a talk for the Fordingbridge Historical Society
on Monday, 14th March 2022, also at 2.30pm and at St. Mary’s Church Hall in Fordingbridge. This will be a new version of my talk on Burma and husband Anthony’s father, David.
David was born in Woodfalls and dramatically found himself in India and Burma in the Second World War. His story and that of our journey (thank goodness we made it in 2018 and recorded it in our book The Road to Rangoon!) really brings home the experience of an ordinary soldier and the impact it had.
